Abstract
Black Pond /Černý rybník/ Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral territory of Klíny, southwest of the dam Fláje, at an altitude of 805 m above sea level. It lies to the left of the road Klíny - Fláje to the border with Germany. The reserve covers an area of 32.56 hectares and was declared on 8th November 1993. This is a water divide bog, drained by Svídnice and White Creek / Bíly potok/, both these streams flow out from a small pond on the eastern border of the reservation. The object of protection is the natural character of hydrological, botanical and faunistic interesting moor of highland type.
The White Creek is a small river that originates in the aforementioned Black Pond Nature Reserve. The creek has high content of humine substances which is caused by the presence of the moor near the spring of the creek and its tributaries. Water from the creek, due to its high quality, is treated at the White Creek Water Treatment Plant near the village of Šumná and strengthens water supply of the town of Most, Litvinov, the pant Unipetrol RPA and surrounding villages with drinking water.
