Preparation and Validation of Educational Materials for Forensic Analysis Process

Abstract

Limited access to realistic datasets poses a challenge for digital forensics education. This thesis addresses this issue by developing a comprehensive educational dataset that simulates an industrial espionage scenario, employing a Human Simulated Scenario Data approach for enhanced realism. To increase complexity, the dataset incorporates steganography techniques, prompting an examination of various tools. Forensic analysis using Autopsy confirms the dataset's value for educational purposes. This thesis contributes a unique educational resource, explores the complexities of steganography in forensics, and offers recommendations for future research, including the investigation of more intricate scenarios and a wider range of data obfuscation techniques.
