Abstract
The dissertation deals with the issue of controlling industrial substations that feed the system, which have the possibility of switching to island operation. In this work, the ABB 800xA distributed control system is used for this control. This system makes it possible to combine the control of the substation with the control of the generator and at the same time with the control of various technological processes. The thesis describes the principles of control of the switching elements of the substation according to the IEC 61850 standard in cooperation with the control of the generator. As part of the work, a laboratory connection was created for testing the island operation of the system fed by the substation, parallel operation with the network, and the transition between these two states. The laboratory connection is designed in such a way that it is possible to simply connect different types of load, and thus examine the system's response during transient events. Everything can be controlled and monitored from the control screen created in the 800xA system. The laboratory connection is created with the highest possible safety in mind so that it can also be used in teaching. The created control system is unique in that it is designed especially for research purposes; the wiring can be easily modified to test different situations. The created solution is particularly suitable for controlling the operation of the electrical systems of wastewater treatment plants with a biogas cogeneration unit or in operations with a pyrolysis unit and a pyrolysis gas cogeneration unit. These types of plants have great potential to work in island operation, but their control systems do not allow this. The control system described in this dissertation makes this possible. The work contains calculations that determine how the reliability of the electricity supply will increase when it is possible to switch to island operation.
