Kohezní politika Evropské unie jako prostředek rozvoje města Ostravy

Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the impact of the cohesion policy of the European Union on the development of the city of Ostrava in the programming period 2014-2020. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate how the cohesion policy funds were used in various areas of urban development and to assess their consistency with the strategic priorities of the city and the region. The thesis combines the theoretical background of EU cohesion policy and regional development with an empirical analysis of implemented projects, focusing, among others, on transport, education, social inclusion and environment. The results show that cohesion policy has played a significant role in the transformation of Ostrava from a post-industrial city towards sustainable, innovation-driven development. The paper also includes recommendations for more effective use of EU instruments in the city in the future period.
