Abstract

The topic of this bachelor paper is the unified social insurance system which by means of active precautions helps to balance social contrasts and tension caused by difficult life situations. The aim of this paper is to analyze and compare the systems of social insurance and their differences in Czech republic and Slovak republic considering their common longterm tradition of social insurance. The comparison is based on available sources which are the current legislations of both countries. For the sake of comparison I used similar demographical data, population characteristics and social statistics of both systems. The paper consists of four main chapters. The first chapter includes introduction into the field. In the next two chapters I describe the pension system itself, its structure, causes and the necessity of establishing the system in both republics. I also pay attention to historic context related to our common history. In the third chapter I dealt with the historic influence of demographical development on both pension systems. Every country adapts its pension system to its economic, social and tax conditions, which is why I considered important comparing the performance of these individual systems.
