Abstract

Bachelor thesis discusses the use of water and loss of water in the Czech Republic. The work follows the historical development of water industry from its earliest beginnings, through the period of communism to the water industry as we know it today. Although the thesis is focused on water consumption in the Czech Republic, for comparison, it also marginally deals with water consumption in the world. The development of specific water consumption, which is described in the study, points to a rapid decline in consumption over the years, which is also reflected in other chapters. Mentioned are the causes and consequences of decreasing water consumption, while this issue does not affect only the owners and operators of water infrastructure, but also the consumers themselves. The second main theme of the work is pointing to the loss of water, which is one of the many factors influencing consumption.
