Abstract
The aim of the work is to find the solution for a „recirculation“ of the abandoned railway stations areas in favour of the communities where those areas are located.
The task was processed in three successive steps in three hypotheses.
In the first hypothesis was presupposed the eminent interest of the communities on the reuse of the abandoned or underused railways stations areas inside the build-up areas. The questionnaire was developed and sent twice to 144 selected municipalities. Selection criteria were the railway of different class going through and the different size of the community. The questioning had failed for lack of interest as only nine of 144 municipalities had answered and none of those was correct.
According to the second hypothesis was presupposed that analysis and evaluation of publicly accessible data of the Czech Statistical Office and those of selected municipalities can lead to the determination of ability and their interest in the revitalization railway areas surveyed. The choice of communities was narrowed down to the Central bohemia Region, two border crossing stations and West Bohemian town Louny. The data gained were analysed and evaluated through the excel tools with factors analysis of economic, ecological (namely the quality of sustainable land use management) and social. The results were not of the value to formulate the proposals for the economic land use – land recirculation.
The third hypothesis was formulated with the experience of the work on previous two parts. All gained results were used to formulate solution procedure emphasizing the start with the wide public discussion managed by an expert in master planning during which easy-to-use model can perform the impact of a specific land use of abandoned areas on local attractiveness immediately. Model assumes introducing a new „ coefficient of preferences“ for different public concerns. As an example town of Cesky Brod was introduced the theoretic impact on the attractiveness of the whole town revitalization of a part of railway station area can bring.
