Abstract
„Charles University’s Multifunctional Center in Prague 7:
A Hub for STUDY and SPORT“
The project focuses on the design of a new study and leisure center for Charles University in Prague, located in the area of Prague 7, specifically on Povltavská and Pátkova streets. The center will be situated near Charles University’s 17. listopadu dormitory and the Faculty of Humanities. The proposed complex is intended to include both academic and leisure facilities, which may be organized into separate buildings or combined into a single complex structure. Key components of the leisure center include two lecture halls, an exhibition space, and the possibility of an outdoor pool or gymnasium, supporting multifunctional use for both students and the general schema_dspacedb.
Additionally, the project envisions creating a new public space between the buildings, which will contribute to revitalizing the surroundings and improving the connection between the campus and the neighborhood. This public space is intended to provide a venue for social gatherings, study, and leisure activities. The project will be developed in collaboration with the Architecture Studio at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at VŠB-TU Ostrava in the winter semester of 2024/2025, under the supervision of Prof. Ing. arch. Jindřich Svatoš and Ing. arch. Kateřina Riedlová, Ph.D.
