Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is a production of optical waveguides from a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with different ratios of hardener, and subsequently, to investigate their optical parameters.The aim is to determine the most suitable ratio for the optical communication. In the thesis is described the initial experimenting with the production method of the optical waveguides and subsequent selection of the most effective procedure. After managing the production process, the next step was to build a measuring system using a construction kit of the company Thorlabs and the LED light sources. The final task consisted of measuring the optical properties of each waveguide by using the measuring system and subsequent comparison the ratios between each other.
