ENVIROCENTRUM DOUBRAVA

Abstract

The subject of the thesis work is currently the desolate chateau complex in Doubrava. The centre of the complex is a Baroque chateau from the second half of the 18th century, which is surrounded by an extensive courtyard with farm buildings, including a Baroque granary, the aim of the proposal is to revitalize and transform historically valuable buildings into an environmental center. The proposed environmental and ecological center will serve as a platform for sustainable development and environmental education focused on nature protection, which will take the form of educational programs for children and youth and various educational events for teachers and the general schema_dspacedb. The content of the center will correspond to the context of the mining landscape of Karviná region and its intention will be to introduce visitors to the local nature and the associated ethos of sustainable behavior with regard to the future of all living forms. The buildings will also serve as an information and cultural center, so the area should be more or less used throughout the calendar year. The listed historic buildings will be sensitively renovated and together with the newly built buildings, will include classrooms, lecture halls, exhibition spaces, a bistro, a distillery and temporary accommodation. The buildings will be further surrounded by an orchard and a park turning into the landscape. The overall openness and connection with the surroundings, where there are localities with high natural value, is important.
