Abstract
Cars go inline, one behind the other, and suddenly the first car in the convoy says: “The weather is beautiful today”, the second one says: “The weather is beautiful today”, the third one says: “The weather is beautiful today”, and the n-th car says: “The weather is beautiful today”.
The thesis describes hitherto conducted research activities and designs for improving automobile safety with use of optical communication. The first part is focused on optical communication among cars; the second part describes optical communication between a car and traffic infrastructure, and the third part deals with analyzing the state of optical communication inside a car.
