Abstract
The thesis deals with construction of timber buildings in Europe. It describes basic differences in limitations according to national normative requirements and related fire protection. First part is about basic properties of wood and basic structure elements and their limitations. Following part deals with fire safety of timber buildings. The thesis is then focused on actual situation of construction of timber buildings in Europe and possible development of fire safety.
