Abstract

The main object of this thesis is the study of the influence of the heat treatment on superelasticity and shape memory behavior of NiTi alloys, both in theoretical and experimental part. The theoretical part is focused on general characteristics, mechanical and physical properties, corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, manufacturing methods and possible applications. NiTi alloy of 50,7 at. % Ni was used as an experimental material. Especially, the impact of the process of annealing (600 °C) and aging at different temperatures (250-500 °C) on the resulting microstructure and material properties is investigated. The research methods of optical and scanning electron microscopies, EDX analysis and microhardness test are used to evaluate heat treatment effect. All results are summarized and discussed in detail in the discussion.
