Abstract

Czekoslovakia split into two independent republics. Since 1993 Czech and Slovak economies have been deciding about the republics development on thein own. The task of the thesis is to clarify and evaluate the progress sof Czech and Slovak economies and also to find differences in the development of these economies especially after 1989 by the historical-deductive method. The theoretical part includes the definition of the economic cycle, description of the theoretical concepts of the economic and description of the basic macroeconomic aggregates of intenarl and external balance. The third chapter discusses the default state of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, as well as the economic development of Czechoslovak Federative Republic and the Czech Republic. The fourth chapter is divided into two parts, the first describes the development of the Slovak economy and the second part deals with the comparison of selected economies.
