The Influence of Drilling Mud Related to Deep Drilling

Abstract

The Bachelor Thesis topic “ The Influence of Drilling Mud Related to Deep Drilling” firstly gives a brief description of drilling mud in relation to deep drilling. It then focuses on the functions and characteristics of mud such as cooling and lubricating the bit, removal of cuttings; to name a few. While describing the different types of muds and their composition it was found that it is infutile to discuss each individual type of mud because numerous variations of each type are available depending on the area of operation and types of formations to be penetrated. Furthermore, due to the nature of the work in oil well drilling, various problems related to drilling fluid properties arise, which is also further presented in the thesis. At the end of the thesis are conclusions.
