Abstract

Fish and other water species migration and watercourse obstacles migration permeability have recently become a topic for both water management and environmental experts. This diploma thesis deals with the river Labe lower reach migration permeability on the Czech territory. The river Labe is the main watercourse of the highest rank. That is why it is a priority to eliminate any impassability for fish, particularly on the lower reach of the river. The thesis offers a solid professional overview on the lower reach of the river Labe from the point of view of fish migrating permeability. The river itself has always been of major importance for the fish migration. Several kinds of fish (salmon, trout, and eel) have entered uppermost parts of the river and its tributaries. The reconstruction of old fish ways and building of new ones bears importance for both long-distance migrating of fish and the local fish population seeking best spawning conditions etc. Kinds of fish entering the fish way and the available proportion of water flow capacity should remain an essential consideration prior to any fish way construction or reconstruction. The thesis suggests construction of fish ways on the lower reach of the river Labe waterworks, respectively their reconstruction, or construction of second fish ways on large waterworks. It also deals with particular types of the fish ways. Regeneration of the grand historical river corridor through the improvement of migrating permeability for widest spectrum of fish remains the main objective.
