Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to propose and implement a software application for simulation and visualization of the movement of public transport vehicles in Ostrava. After analyzing the current situation of already solved similar problems, individual software tools were examined for simulation and visualization creation. The Google Maps web application, which for its more advanced use provides users with APIs, appeared to be optimal. Vector data of stops and routes were gained by means of vectorization and timetables data from the DPO (Public transport of Ostrava city) websites. The database structure was compiled. After parsing these timetables data the database was filled. Above Google Maps underlay data using data from the database it is possible to visualize an application designed to provide a controlled simulation of public transportation vehicles. For the future requirement regarding the installation of the GPS receivers in the public transportation, the simulation and visualization were separated. Simulation runs on the server side and the results are visualized on the client side. By these means the simulation of the ideal movement can become the visualization of the real movement. Final interactive application thus offers the user the possibility to follow visually the number of connections of MHD and their movement on the map of Ostrava city.
