Abstract
During coal mining methane is released into the mining spaces. This gas is a risk factor in the mine and therefore the aim of the safe ventilation is lowering methane concentration to the level required by safety regulations. It is possible do it with the help of the current volume calculation of the coal mass, which has the capability of exhaling into the coalface. The volume depends on the speed of the machines used for disconection and removal of coal. The scraper conveyor is used for transportation of coal, the shearer or the coal plow can be used for breaking coal. As the speed of the scraper conveyor cannot be controlled, the current volume of loose coal can be influenced by the change of speed of the disintegrating machine. The calculation can be performed efficiently while using applicaton software, which is compiled on the basis of mathematical expression of the dependence of the current volume on the machinery speeds.
