Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to design and implement an information system for single-entry bookkeeping, which is applicable to small companies. Part of the information system is designed in a way that serves as a tutorial that can be used in the Master's database systems courses. The thesis discusses many aspects of the software development lifecycle: specification of requirements, analysis, implementation design, the implementation itself and also testing of the system's functionality. Manuals were created for both users and developers. The system is implemented as a web application in PHP with MySQL as a database management system. Many other technologies, such as Smarty, AJAX and jQuery were used in the implementation phase.
