Abstract

The aim of this thesis is the design and assessment of static steel staircase with a observation tower around a brick pylon near the observatory and planetarium “Johan Palisa” in Ostrava. In this work were prepared variants of the tower, static assessment of critical supporting parts of selected variants, the assessment of selected connections, technical report, a brief construction procedure and design documentation. The selected variant is inspired by the shape of a brick pylon and consists of double row of columns, arranged in a hexagon, which together with the spacers and rods form a lattice structure. Two “branches” of the staircases goes through between these columns. The observation tower is located at a height 39.9 m. Roofing is designed by using a spherical “cap” and above it stands a mast up to height 51.1 m.. Glazing area of staircase and of observation tower is designed in cases of bad weather. Program Scia Engineer was used for static calculations.
