Abstract
This work deals with the design of vacuum induction melting furnaces, refining technology and casting system. It presents the latest findings from the vacuum induction metallurgy and shows potential for the production of stainless steel. The work evaluates the development of research projects facilities realized in research unit “Vacuum and pressure induction melting furnace “ (VPIM) in MATERIAL AND METALLURGICAL RESEARCH Ltd. The thesis presents results of the research discharge detrimental elements from the Cr and/or Mn alloyed molten steel under reduction conditions and pressurized argon, and research technology of production duplex and super duplex stainless steel. Then the work deals with the casting of steel on VPIM and provides suggestions improving the cleanliness and subsequently microcleanliness cast ingots. Bottom casting technology was designed with a specific tundish respectful form of caisson with the possibility of installing equipment for filtering coarse and fine dirt. Analysis of the bottom cast ingot through a new tundish showed higher purity in particular of the surface of ingot that top cast ingot.
