Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the possibility of introducing lean production in enterprises of metallurgical industry. The theoretical part is focused on the emergence of lean production and its basic principles, tools and methods. The main differences between two of these methods, kaizen and kaikaku, are explained. The practical part deals with two studies of applying lean production in metallurgical industry. One of these studies has been realized at several operations of ArcelorMittal Ostrava Inc. that already have implemented lean manufacturing.
