Abstract
The presented bachelor’s thesis addresses the issue of a water distribution network in a given area and provides an overview of its operation. It focuses on the process of supplying the population with drinking water, including its distribution to end users and the management of operational issues, particularly pipeline failures and their repair. The thesis also includes a characterization of the organizational and technical structure of the network, which is divided into four operational units and further into individual sections, enabling more efficient management and fault localization. Furthermore, the thesis deals with methods for diagnosing and detecting leaks, with emphasis on the night-time isolation method using data loggers for continuous flow monitoring. The main objective is to summarize the principles of water distribution network operation and to highlight the importance of systematic segmentation and modern monitoring methods for ensuring reliability and efficiency.
