Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis addresses the issue of low-temperature asphalt mixtures (NTAS), focusing on a comparison of their compactability with conventional hot-mix asphalt mixtures. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes current knowledge in the field of technologies for reducing temperatures during the production and paving of asphalt layers, while providing a detailed characterization of the selected mixture for ACO 11+ wearing courses with a binder gradation of 50/70 and the properties of the organic additive HARDWAX 100T. The experimental section is based on laboratory testing of Marshall specimens produced in the temperature range of 120 °C to 150 °C. A comparative analysis of the compactability of mixtures with and without the low-temperature additive was performed by determining bulk densities and void ratios. The measurement results identified 135 °C as the optimal temperature for the modified mixture, at which physical-mechanical parameters comparable to those of the reference mixture produced under standard conditions were achieved. The study is supplemented by findings from practical field applications, which confirm the laboratory findings and demonstrate the technological and environmental benefits of using NTAS in road construction.
