The subject of bachelor thesis „Crossroad Hlučínská – Ratibořská in Opava" is to analyze the safety of the current crossroad on the 1st class road in Opava – local part of Kateřinka and the suitability of the current arrangement and to evaluate the possibility of building a traffic roundabout or eventually building a light controlled crossroad with respect to the safety and smoothness of traffic. The first part of bachelor thesis is about the current state of contact crossroad of roads l/46 (Ratibořská street) and l/56 (Hlučínská street), during the traffic investigation, from which I acquired data about the build and directional guidance of traffic flow, including intensity of traffic and analysis of the rate of traffic accidents and conflict situations. Second part is dedicated to suggestions of increasing fluency and saffety of traffic. It‘s content is assessment of building a roundabout or a traffic lights cross instead of the current contact crossroad and capacity assessment of both ideas. In the last part, there are created simulation models of crossroad in the software PTV VISSIM and the final evaluation of the new designed variants.
