Abstract

This thesis treats of overview of indoor air pollutants present in buildings and the main sources of these pollutants based on environmental studies of European Comission Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy. As the next step based on the results of epidemiological studies the possible health effects due to exposure to air pollutants were evaluated. This information was used to estimate and specify health risks of indoor air pollution in dwellings, which are designed with regards to very low consumption of energy (passive houses) and without natural air ventilation. Passive houses are built in order to energy conservation with minimum air transmission loss and air renewal, that is provided by controlled air-conditioning systems, and the health risks are considered.
