Abstract
The thesis deals with the future of electricity generation in the Czech Republic and with its relation to the development of raw materials base. Possibilities of fulfilling the visions of the state energy concept that, in addition to the provision of reliable and environmentally friendly energy supplies at competitive prices, expect maintaining the energy dependence of the state within safe limits are discussed.
In seven chapters, conditions of the further ensuring of electricity generation in the Czech Republic at minimizing the growth of its energy dependence are analysed.
The future of electricity generation is primarily affected by gradual exhausting the reserves of brown coal that is the main energy mineral for electricity generation (together with nuclear power). The basic starting points for possible solutions for the
further ensuring of electricity in the Czech Republic are characterised, the raw materials
potential of the Czech Republic in the area of selected energy raw materials is analysed and compared with those in the neighbouring countries. Separately, possibilities and also risks associated with the use of renewable resources for electricity generation in the
Czech Republic are described. For individual chapters, possibilities of solutions and their risks are stated; the main results are summarised in the final chapter of the thesis.
The results of the analyses prove that the focus on electricity generation from nuclear power is, in principle, the only alternative that under certain conditions does not increase the dependence of the Czech Republic on energy raw materials imports. Three articles dealing with the topic of the thesis are part of the text. Two of them were published in the journal Energy policy and the third one is just being reviewed.
The thesis, dealing mainly with a relation between the structure of electricity generation in the Czech Republic and the state of its raw materials base, defines the
basic starting points for formulating the raw materials policy and the energy policy and
the state energy concept of the Czech Republic in the sector of electricity generation.
