Abstract
Pollution of the environment with pollutants is not only a problem in our republic, but it is a global problem. One of the methods that remediate soils is phytoremediation. This
method enables decontamination of sites directly on site, so-called in-situ. This is one of the most sustainable methods from an economic and environmental point of view.
Although phytoremediation is immediately less effective than physical methods and is time consuming, it has great potential. The thesis provides an indicative overview of plants that are used for phytoremediation with an indication of remediation that can be used. The experimental part describes the phytoremediation of the second largest brownfield in the Ostrava region, the DEZA-Ostrava locality, where hemp (Cannabis sativa) was used as a phytoremediation plant. Experiments have shown good phytoremediation properties of this plant. Analyzes on the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) and the Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICP-MS) showed the presence of Cu, Ni, Zn, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Pb in all main parts of the plant - root, stem and herb. Remediation of the area with hemp (Cannabis sativa) is a suitable alternative to other decontamination methods.
