Abstract

This dissertation focuses on mapping of possible environemnt friendly decisions in the area of water and severage systems applicable in the Czech Republic. The water treatment plants and wastewater cleaning stations are in its basics environmentally friendly. However, the dissertation coveres areas related to the main business, mainly the use of energy. The water treatment plants are associated with the energy potential of water. This can be used in small hydroelectric plants. This energy source is one of some supported by national government. The electricity produced in small hydroelectric plants can be used by the water treatment plants itself. This means at the same place as the hydroelectric plant is situated. In the area of wastewater treatment plants there is a potential use of wastewater treatment gas, the digester gas. The proces of using digester gas results in production of heat and electric energy. Both types of energy produced can be used in the proces of wastewater cleaning. Every investment requires financial funds. The quality of environment is the public interest. The government has many different ways, how to support the investments into environmentaly friendly projects. The dissertations considered technical options to use energy from renewable sources in connection with the financial sources. The outcome is an investment model considering governemnt grants and internal decission making criteria. The investment model can be used for decission making as well as a tool for modeling the type and amount of goverment support.
