Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the fire resistance of external wall structures of modern wooden buildings. The introductory part defines the term “wooden building” and presents the most common structural systems and wall assemblies used in such structures. The following section describes the methods for determining fire resistance that are used in the assessment of timber building structures. The main part of the thesis focuses on the influence of wall composition and the materials used on the resulting fire resistance. For experimental verification two specimens representing commonly used wall construction compositions were fabricated. These specimens were subjected to a modified small-scale test during which the temperature profile in individual layers was monitored under a standard temperature curve load. In the conclusion the measured values are evaluated and compared with each other. The study also includes an assessment of how the material composition and structural arrangement influence the behaviour of the wall under fire load and its resulting fire resistance.
