Abstract

In this thesis I deal with environment pollutants and a process of biodegradation as possible approach of their removal. In the first part, possible microorganisms and factors in a process of biological leaching of inorganic materials are described. Then basic mechanisms of oxidation of inorganic materials with help of microorganisms are pointed out. The second part is focused on the main issue which is organic pollutants PAU, PCB and NEL. There are described their basic properties, characteristics and biodegradation processes. Proper organisms and factors influencing microbial processes of organic pollutants are focused. Mainly the species of bacteria Pseudomonas putida and Rhodococcus sp. are pointed out which are important in the leaching process, as well as for degradation meant as the second level cleaning at decontamination of flotation products taken from sediments of „Černý příkop“. The amount of PAU, PCB and NEL in the sediment is evaluated and ability of selected bacterial species to degrade these materials during the process. At the end of the thesis, there are mentioned the results of PAU, PCB and NEL values having been measured in the samples taken in different time intervals during the process and it is being compared to the values of flotation products.
