Nové společenské ohnisko města na Akademickém náměstí v Brně

Abstract

The Diploma thesis on the theme New social focal point of the Academic square in Brno deals with creation of the new focal point at external border of historic downtown. The site is well situated in the town and this is great potential for the new social focal point. The Academic square is located in the part of the city with important educational institutions and also with recreational areas.

The thesis deals with creation of full focal point northern from the downtown Brno as a counterpoise to the newly composed south centre. The aim is support to a complex of high-rise buildings in Šumavská street from the 60s of the last century, complete the silouhette of the city, and also follow up on the idea of a north-south underground tram line.
