Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis evaluates air pollution levels in the village of Ludgeřovice, focusing on PM2.5 particulate matter and black carbon (BC). The aim of the research was to identify the main sources of pollution and analyse the spatial and temporal variability of these pollutants in relation to local meteorological conditions and the specific topography of the area. Field monitoring was conducted at 14 defined sites between November 2025 and March 2026 using Fidas® Frog and MicroAeth MA200 optical particle counters. The results confirmed significant seasonal dynamics, with maximum concentrations in January 2026, when average PM2.5 values reached 78.3 ± 15.9 µg∙m-3. Statistical analysis showed a strong correlation between PM2.5 concentrations and wind speed (r = 0.71), indicating a significant contribution from regional transport originating from the Ostrava agglomeration and the Polish border region. In contrast, no dependence on wind speed was found for black carbon (r = 0.012), indicating the dominant influence of local combustion sources within the residential area. The study also documents the influence of the village’s valley topography on the accumulation of pollutants during temperature inversions. The data obtained allow for a more detailed characterisation of air quality at the local village level compared to standard stationary stations of the national monitoring network.
