Abstract

Dissertation is dealing with evaluation of pore system of rocks frequently used in construction industry, in history and nowadays. By using relatively easy accessible me-thods it puts up to find a way or combination of methods to be able to discover secon-dary demage of mentioned types of rocks. This goes hand in hand with evaluation of suitable shape or volume of samples used for testing methods mentioned bellow. First part of dissertation presents literature search, recapitulation of used methods and processes. Contemporary standards and processes deal with finding out total po-rosity but do not describe process, dynamics of water adsorption and evaporation. Po-tential description of obtained results from water tests and mercury intrusion po-rosimetry and their relevance described in nowadays literature is also missing or it is not possible to use it because of different sample size, diferent types of rocks or differ-ent process of method. For dissertation there were two types of rocks chosen – greywackes (technical na-me “moravská droba = Moravian greywacke”) and granitoids (technical name “žuly = granites”). Samples of both rock types were investigated on long-term water absorp-tion and desorption and with mercury intrusion porosimetry. For these tests there were used samples of natural rocks and heated samples, heated for rock aging simulation and pore system study. Summary of most significant results and description of possible future steps of process are described in the final part of dissertation
