Ověření komunikačních schopností technologie LoraWAN na různých kmitočtových pásmech

Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the verification and comparison of the communication capabilities of the LoRaWAN technology in the frequency bands 433 MHz, 868 MHz, and 2400 MHz and the sole technology LoRa in the frequency band 169 MHz, which are available for short-range devices in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to experimentally evaluate the transmission characteristics of the individual bands, especially their range and signal penetration in various types of environments. The theoretical part describes the architecture of the LoRaWAN network, the principles of modulation, and the specifics of the individual investigated frequencies from the perspective of legislation and physical properties. In the practical part, a signal coverage simulation is first performed using the Radio Mobile tool, based on which suitable measurement scenarios are designed. Subsequently, a comparative measurement is carried out using a created measurement chain comprising access points and end devices for all tested bands. The measurements took place in line-of-sight situations, in dense urban areas, and during signal penetration into building interiors. The measured data (especially RSSI and SNR values) are subsequently statistically evaluated and graphically interpreted. The results provide a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the operating frequency on communication reliability and serve as a basis for the optimal choice of the frequency band when deploying Internet of Things (IoT) networks.
