Abstract

The aim of the diploma work „BRICS countries and their impact on the world economy during the global crisis“ is to evaluate the current position of the BRICS countries in the global economy and assess the influence on the world economy during the global crisis. Partly the work focuses on outlining the economic development of the BRICS. The work is divided into five separate chapters including the introduction and the conclusion. The introductory theoretical chapter concentrates on the theoretical basis of economic development and the world economy. The third chapter deals with the BRICS influence on the world economy. In this chapter the basic characteristics of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa economies during the period from 2002 to 2011 are discussed. The fourth chapter focuses on the position of the BRICS countries in the global economy during the crisis period. This chapter describes the macroeconomic indicators development and external economic relations. Content of this chapter is the brief description of the summit results of the BRICS countries. At the end of this chapter, the development of short-term forecast of economic indicators for the BRICS countries and long-term forecast of the BRICS development are adumbrated.
