Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe in detail Office for the Protection of Competition, its authority, what it deals with, who is managed by, what field it focuses on. Further to evaluate anti-monopole politics of this office focusing most closely on protection against cartels´ agreements being the most serious violation of competition. This thesis is divided into three basic chapters. The first one is focused on description of the Office. Authority, competences, management, fields of interest is described here. In this chapter competition and public support are focused on, those two of three areas the Office deals with. The third area is mentioned only shortly because it is explained in next chapter. The second chapter determines the field of public contracts – terms, types, selecting process, deadlines up to conclusion of agreement with the most suitable candidate. The third chapter presents anti-monopole politics evaluation, whose executive provider the Office is. This part of the thesis is focused on protection against cartels agreements representing the most serious threat on the Czech market. Bigger part of the thesis focuses on Leniency programme, which helps to reveal the cartels agreements since 2000. The main aim of the Office for the Protection of Competition is to assure the competition on the Czech market is operated without any complications and all participants are given the same conditions. Office for the Protection of Competition will never achieve such point but by the different programmes and regulations it could decrease the number of competition being violated.
