Abstract

Jiří Pokorný, Ph.D., MPA, dr. h. c. This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of an active shooter at a selected university and proposes measures for such an attack. The theoretical part deals with the active shooter, their characteristics, securing soft targets, and ways to confront such an attacker. The practical part includes quantitative research consisting of a penetration test and an experiment focused on participant´s reactions to a simulated active shooter attack. Based on the results of the practical part, measures are proposed to enhance security, specifically practical drills for school staff and a technical solution in the form of an "Emergency Key".
