Abstract
The green transformation of the steel industry is a marathon, decarbonization is the key to the viability of the steel industry, and the use of green hydrogen is ideal for reducing CO2 emissions. Transition from blast furnace iron to reformed DRI/HBI meet the global energy and climate target by at least 50%.
The main goal is the replacement of today’s fuels with biogas or hydrogen, in the future the transition to 100% use of hydrogen in the steel industry.
The possibilities of using hydrogen in metallurgy are very wide for the direct reduction of iron ores, as well as for the intensification of the blast furnace process and the reduction of coke consumption in blast furnaces, and high combustion temperature.
