Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the process of Turkey's rapprochement with the European Union. It analyses the development of Turkey-EU relations since the beginning and examines the key factors influencing this process, including political, economic and social factors. It also looks at the implications of Turkey's eventual EU membership and the EU and Turkish attitudes towards this issue. The thesis uses a largely descriptive analysis and assesses Turkey's approach to European standards and norms, as well as its ability to implement key reforms needed for EU membership. The results of the thesis provide a comprehensive picture of Turkey's process of moving closer to the EU and discuss possible ways forward for both sides.
