Konverze přádelny a dostavba blízkého okolí pro funkci bydlení, Brno-Obřany

Abstract

The aim of my thesis is to work out an architectural project of the conversion of the former spinning mill to a multifunctional building in the locality Brno-Obřany, the current site of the former textile factories (Essler´s spinning mill) located on an island on the Svitava River. In my work, I try to create high-quality public space with partially urban character from the entire site, which could become a new local centre of Obřany. I strive to achieve this by developing another building, a multifunctional building, which is in its essence volume and artistically based on the existing spinning mill. I also design a significant link with the Svitava River through clearly defined embankment between spinning mill buildings and the new multifunctional building on the island. The remaining part of the island is understood as a supplement to buildings. This supplement is implemented as a kind of a garden, which consists of an orchard and a free park design with a terraced link to the river.
