Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with description of structure and high temperature corrosion of TiAl base intermetallics. In theoretical part the main attention is devoted to high temperature corrosion properties of selected alloys. In next part is described general partition intermetallics alloys and their structure. Subsequently is described the structure and mechanical behaviour Ti-Al-Me intermetallics. Experimental part this thesis is focused on high temperature oxidation Ti-46Al-5Nb- 1W intermetallics in molten salts (Na2SO4 + NaCl) which simulated very strong aggressive conditions. Corrosion resistance after different exposure time at 800°C temperatures is examined. On the basis of gravimetric method the basic kinetic relations were determined and macroscopic and metallographic observation of samples and layers was performed. The achieved results are discussed and compared with results of high temperature oxidation obtained in the air.
