Abstract
One part from the activities of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, as the one of the main forces of Integrated rescue system intervening in wide range of casualties, accidents or other special events in an effort to protect human lives and their properties, is statistical monitoring of events. These data related to the interventions of fire rescue units have spatial character since they are always related to the particular location. Since the beginning of this evidence large amount of spatial information was created. Past few years there was an effort to visualize them and provide different point of view to the certain facts and it was the main reason for the creation of cartographic work called Electronic fire protection atlas of Czech Republic as an application for web map publishing.
Main goal of this diploma thesis is to acquaint with the data structure of mentioned atlas, which is different from the currently used structure of statistical monitoring of events and its structure is inconvenient in the terms of requirements for normalized relational database. This analysis of atlas data structure or other data structures, being created since the beginning of evidence of such data in Fire Rescue Service, was used as a basis for design and creation of the database, which is merging data from multiple periods and will represent unified data source used by an application for dynamic web map generation. This all was preceded by analysis of statistical monitoring of events in fire protection in the way,that the database has to be designed correctly and have to contain all the necessary items needed for creation of cartographic outputs. Part of the newly created data model is also its documentation.
Due to the nature of the data contained in the database it is possible to apply various cartographic methods for the data visualization. Diploma thesis is therefore analyzing the data in the terms of cartographic visualization options in order to provide design of the methods and their examples which could be implemented in the future in electronic Atlas of fire rescue with the goal to extend its functionality and present the data in different way, which will allow users to gain new useful information or interesting facts.
