Abstract

Zinc coating protects the base material (usually unalloyed or low-alloy steel) from corrosion. For correct function of the Zn coating the prescribed thickness must be respected. Galvanization factories use magneto-inductive method to control the thickness of Zn coating. The thesis used in various methods for measuring the thickness of Zn coating, which are further evaluated. By using the methods of optical microscopy, it was found, that for correct measuring of the thickness of Zn coating by magnetic inductive method and optical emission spectrometry with glow discharge (GDOES) must recalculate the obtained results by using the correction coefficient. Correction coefficient have been determined using the QC-Expert, where all the data were statistically analyzed by univariate analysis, linear regression and calibration.
