Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the competitiveness of the selected company in the services sector. Its aim is to evaluate the competitiveness of a business company providing services in the field of textile washing and cleaning and to suggest ways, which it could improve its current position in the market. For assessment, they were used tools such as PESTE analysis, Porter's five-competitive model, key factors analysis, financial analysis, Altman's bankruptcy model and others. In order to assess the competitiveness of the company, it was chosen for comparison a significant competitor, which is of a similar character (size, number of employees, etc.) and situated in the area, where the selected company operates. Selected methods and tools were first described in the theoretical part and then applied to the selected company, respectively. competitor. The performed analysis shows, that the selected company is financially profitable, almost no indebted and solvent, with no bankruptcy in the near future. From the external environment, is the company influenced by legislation, people's approach to health, recreation and leisure or education, next by technology development, environmental thinking, nature and the environment, which must not be harmed by their activities, further also by suppliers, customers, current or potential competitors, manufacturers or providers of substitution products. Minor deficiencies were found in the company's internal environment, where it is faced weak promotion, slight failure rate of machinery and equipment or fluctuations and lack of necessary staff. Nevertheless, anyway it is very well in the overall ranking and far better than the compared competitor. In the last part of the thesis, they were suggested some possible solutions including the estimated costs, that would be incurred in case of realization. It was suggested a report table with a simple financial analysis, which a company can fill itself and evaluate the situation, further it was suggested the possibility of investment in a new equipment, marketing strategy to raise awareness and last but not least also the possibility of introducing and launching a self-service laundry.
