Abstract

This thesis focuses on the economic demands of operating a selected building, specifically the municipal office in Lom. The aim of the thesis is to analyze energy consumption and propose the use of a photovoltaic power plant as a means of reducing operational costs. The theoretical part describes the topic of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, the principles of photovoltaic operation, and the legislative conditions related to its implementation. The practical part focuses on the analysis of electricity and gas consumption in the given building and the economic evaluation of the investment in a photovoltaic system. The thesis employs various investment efficiency assessment methods, such as the payback period method, the net present value method, the return on investment method and the internal rate of return method. The results of this study can serve as a basis for the municipal office's decision-making regarding future investments in sustainable energy.
