Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on the preparation of friction composite with an organic matrix in laboratory conditions. The preparation process was optimized at first. An optimization of the milling and mixing and also an optimization of the pressing parameters took place. After the necessary optimization a component was chosen that should be replaced in the original friction mixture. After a thorough consideration, it was decided that ZnO component should be replaced with KAZN, which is a kaolinite modified with ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the results of friction-wear testing of there two samples were compared with a commercially used brake pad sample. In all testing procedures, an increase of friction effectiveness was observed in the KAZN sample in comparison with the reference sample containing ZnO, which means that certain improvement was achieved.
