Abstract

The bachelor thesis describes the history of mining in the North Bohemian coal basin. It also processes and documents selected serious mining disasters in the North Bohemian coal basin. The objective of the thesis is to describe each event and try to analyze the causes of the accidents. The first part of the thesis describes the history of coal mining and the current status of mining in the North Bohemian coal basin. The second part of the thesis documents mining disasters in the following mines: Döllinger mine near Duchcov, Anna mine in Souš u Mostu, Pokrok mine in Hrdlovka, Pluto mines, Svěží štěstí mine near Duchcov, Nelson III mine in Osek u Duchcova, Kohinoor mine Lom u Litvínova, Pluto 1981 mine. This is followed by a brief analysis of the causes of these accidents and their consequences. Current accident prevention measures in lignite mines are established.
