Abstract

The master´s thesis studies the possibility of removal chromate anions from aqueous matrix with chemically modified biosorbents, which are peanut husks. Teoretical part of the maters´s thesis is focused on current issue of biosorption and its solution. There is also described characteristic of biosorption process, its mechanisms and factors, that affect it. Further there are described basic features of chromium, including its effect on aqueous medium and finally there is described used biosorbents, which are peanut husks. In the practical part are listed all methodologies, which were used. The thesis is focused on speeches of studied biological waste sorbent in terms of reaction kinetics of chromium sorption with oxidation number VI. There are processed and compared measured values of peanut husks effect to remove Cr (VI), first activated with hydrochloric acid at a concentration on 1,0 mol l-1, then unactivated with a grain class <0,5 mm and 0,5-1 mm. Based on the study of kinetics, chemically modified peanut husks with grain class <0,5 mm were from two grain fractions evaluated as the best and were used for another study of the influence of pH and isotherms. For modeling of adsorption isotherms were used Freundlich and Langmuir models. With lowering the pH of sorbate to 1,1, biosorption ability has improved. Analysis of chromium with oxidation number VI was realized by spectrophotometric method with 1,5-diphenylcarbazide.
