Abstract

The aim of the thesis „Competitiveness of Regions in the Czech Republic“ is to identify the most competitive and the least competitive regions in the Czech Republic, based on a comparison of indicators of macroeconomic enforcement, growth potential and a quality of life. It's first part is devoted to theoretical definition of competitiveness. It sumarizes it's particular levels, defines the term „region“ and describes factors that affect regional competitiveness. Next part summarizes the approaches to measurement and evaluation of regional competetiveness and describes the method used to evaluate the competitiveness of regions in the Czech Republic. The final part is focused on a comparison of competetiveness-level-achievement of regions during years 2000 – 2006 using the method of macroeconomic octadecagon.
